Position: Director of Training and Education

 

Location: Remote (nationwide) with occasional travel (approximately six times per year)

 

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $75,000 – 90,000 annually plus benefits.

 

About the Position

 

The National Working Positive Coalition (NWPC) is seeking an experienced, dedicated, flexible and passionate staff person for this vital senior position. You will develop, present, and oversee training and education activities that inform and inspire systems change and improvement of the wellbeing and quality of life and empowerment of individuals living with or at greater vulnerability to acquiring HIV. 

 

NWPC is a small but high-impact organization at the intersection of HIV and employment services. We strengthen responses to the employment needs of people living with or at greater vulnerability to HIV through training and technical assistance, research, and policy and advocacy. NWPC envisions a just world where people living with or at greater vulnerability to HIV can participate equitably and meaningfully in life.

 

Strong candidates will love the creation and delivery of online and onsite training, along with building and sustaining a training team, and the development and maintenance of online education resources. You must also have expertise and experience in at least one of the following areas, along with a commitment to self-determination and expansion of opportunities for all:

  • employment services (vocational rehabilitation and/or workforce development) and/or

  • benefits counseling (work incentives advisement) and/or 

  • HIV services (care and/or prevention) or policy, or the equivalent in disability services or policy.

 

We are a flexible, inclusive, and supportive workplace with primarily remote work along with some required travel, and occasional evening and weekend work. 

 

Responsibilities

 

In alignment with NWPC’s values and vision, and in pursuit of achieving its mission, the Director of Training and Education will plan, implement and oversee training, education and technical assistance activities. The Director of Training and Education will work closely with the Executive Director in the following duties: 

 

Training:  40%

  • Serve as lead trainer

  • Recruit, onboard and supervise contracted trainers 

 

Education: 40%

  • Develop and maintain online and in-person training, education, and technical assistance curricula, tools and resources, oversee all education and training project management, program evaluation, and associated administrative systems 

  • Manage development of a new, online national HIV and employment information resource center, including contract management of designer and writer, and ongoing project management and maintenance

 

Partnerships and Development: 20%

  • Represent NWPC in meetings with training and education collaborating organizations and planning bodies.

  • Assist with associated grant and contract development, and oversee grant reporting.

Qualifications:

  • A strong commitment to and understanding of NWPC’s mission, values, and vision, and to social and economic justice.

  • Minimum of 3 years of non-profit organizational management, policy development and advocacy, training and/or direct service delivery experience.

  • Experience with, and/or a commitment to, employment and economic justice initiatives.

  • Experience with people who experience barriers to education and employment. (This may include people living with HIV, LGBTQIA+ persons, youth, English as second language learners, people with disabilities, and people with experience of incarceration and/or economic hardship.) We encourage people living with HIV and other lived experience to consider applying for this position.  

  • Ability to think strategically, problem-solve, innovate, exercise initiative, and manage multiple tasks/projects and sensitive information.

  • Deadline and detail oriented, with ability to step into an active role alongside a proven capacity to work independently as well as collaboratively.

  • Verbally articulate with strong interpersonal communication skills.

  • Exceptional written communication skills, demonstrating consistently high standards of accuracy and clarity in written work.

  • Impeccable integrity, judgment, and discretion, with a personal high level of accountability for excellence in work output, and ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Able to travel on occasion and work evenings and weekends, as needed.

  • Proficient in Zoom, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Workspace.

 

Benefits:

The salary target for this position is $75,000 - $90,000 annually. Excellent benefits through NWPC’s fiscal sponsor (Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs), including 100% employer coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
