EMPLOYMENT SERVICES WORKING GROUP
Mission:
The mission of the Employment Services Working Group is to promote employment services for people living with or at risk of HIV, based on self-determined priorities of jobseekers and workers, to broaden options and strengthen resources for considering work, obtaining employment, and maintaining jobs.
Goals:
Foster collaborative relationships among employment service providers to help achieve the common goal of improving employment services for people living with or at risk for HIV.
Discuss practice models and how varied models are implemented across private, state, and federal programs.
Share information regarding varied funding mechanisms available to support employment initiatives.
Advocate for increased access to and evaluation of employment services for people living with or at risk for HIV.
Advocate for optimally informed transitions into employment and career development/advancement for peer specialist employees.
Activities
Convene monthly/quarterly meetings of employment services providers to discuss opportunities and challenges related to provision of employment services.
Develop a tool kit and resources to help foster the provision of employment services for people living with HIV.
Provide technical assistance and training.
Develop guidelines for establishing and managing peer specialist positions and fostering the career development and advancement of peer specialists.
Collaborate with the NWPC Research and Policy Working Groups.
