Sylvester has lived with HIV for 36 years and is the former NWPC Director of Health, and also served as a NWPC Board member. He served as Director of Health Programs at the Urban League of Hampton Roads, where he oversaw the Ryan White program. Sylvester is also the founder and CEO of Moving Forward Consulting (MFC), an organization dedicated to helping people living with HIV (PLWH) access the resources and information necessary to make informed decisions about their employment goals and long-term economic security. Before founding MFC, Sylvester worked at the Endependence Center, a Center for Independent Living (CIL) in Norfolk, VA, where he coordinated the Ticket to Work Program, funded by the Social Security Administration. In this capacity, he assisted individuals with a wide range of disabilities in preparing for and securing meaningful employment. Sylvester is also trained as a Community Work Incentive Coordinator (Benefits Counselor).
