LIZA CONYERS, PHD, CRC, LPC
Dr. Conyers, Professor of Rehabilitation and Human Services, received her PhD in Rehabilitation Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is a tenured professor at Penn State University and has published over 50 publications and book chapters related to HIV and employment issues, psychosocial and cultural aspects of chronic illness, and rehabilitation education. She helped to co-found the National Working Positive Coalition and is President of the Board of Directors and Co-chairperson of the Research Working Group. Dr. Conyers is the principal investigator on several research projects and directs the Pennsylvania Expanded HIV Testing Initiative. Dr. Conyers has provided input to a number of federal initiatives and policy meetings related to HIV and employment/workforce development issues. She is the recipient of several research grants and fellowships and was awarded the National Council on Rehabilitation Education (NCRE) Researcher of the Year Award in 2006. Dr. Conyers has mentored many undergraduate, masters and doctoral students and was awarded the Rehabilitation Counselor Educator of the Year Award by the National Council on Rehabilitation Education in 2004 and then again in 2017. She serves as editorial board member for Rehabilitation Research, Policy, and Education and has co-edited a special issue of the Journal of Vocational Rehabilitation on HIV/AIDS and employment.
